I am back from Spring Break, well on my way back. I am
typing while we are driving this long 12 hours with 3 kids. Ahhh, are we ever
going to get home. But I am sorry I didn’t post while I was gone we were busy
from the time we woke up till bed time. So let’s get back to our everyday
devotions.

Experiencing Silence

Be still, and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10

The world seems to grow louder day by day, and our senses
seem to be invaded at every turn. If we allow our distractions to separate us
from God’s peace, we do ourselves a disservice. Our task, as believers, is to
carve out moments of silence in a world filled with noise.
If we maintain righteous minds and compassionate hearts, we
must take time each day for prayer and for meditation. We must make ourselves
still in the presence of our Lord. We need to quiet our minds and our hearts so
that we might sense God’s will and His love.

Has our busy lives gotten in the way of our peace that the
Lord had promised us? If so, it’s time to get our priorities right. As we try
to balance our daily to–do list; remember that nothing is more important than
the time we spend with our heavenly Father. So be still and claim the peace
that is found in the silent moments that you spend with God.

I am still trying to work out what a good time is for my quiet time. I would like to have that
time in the mornings but haven’t made myself get up early enough to do that. I
also want to set down and make a weekly or monthly chart of what my studies
would be about. Maybe set a schedule for my quiet time and that would make it
go smoother. I am also working on a better family bible time that keeps my kids
interested. I have found some ideas and I will share them in the next few days.
When we meet next I hope to work on the homeless bags that we talked about. So
with all that info let’s end in a prayer.

Dear Lord, help me remember the importance of my quiet time
with you. Help me discover quiet moments throughout my day so that I may sense
your presence and your love. Amen

  1. Beth, I also need to work on my quiet time with the Lord and would also like for it to be in the mornings but, like you, that doesn't seem to work out and, then at night, I am too tired! So, I have decided that it has got to be in the mornings...I've also realized that I need to do that with exercising too :) Before we make the homeless bags, if you don't mind, send out another list and I will bring stuff for the bags to our meeting. Thanks for your posts, I enjoy them!
